I'll confess to a bit of artistic license here. The concept described "a sorceress in
a flowing gown surrounded by attackers. With her left hand, she casts the Chronobolt which
leaves an imprint of her outstretched hand on the enemy's back". The interpretation of
the enemies was left entirely to me.
I tinkered with several different ideas, but the one version I kept coming back to
was of that giant spider, because honestly I can't stand them. After some traumatic
experiences with extremely large spiders during my time as an exchange student in Australia,
to say they bother me a bit is to say that hell is just a sauna. I combined
elements of a few different spiders for this baddie, notably the Australian Huntsman
and Sydney Funnel Web that so terrorized me in my youth.
To complete the Freud-fest, the model for that sorceress is yours truly. After my
successful trial with Soul Echo I realized
it was easier (and fun!) to find the pose I wanted by simply doing it myself. And I have to
admit, I did gain some satisfaction from the image of mini-me potentially doing something
really nasty to a childhood demon. Art can be just so therapeutic.
