The first of three interpretations of Celtic fish (click "next" link above to see
its companions) Salmon and Carp, important symbols to the sea-faring Celts and folk of the Far East,
each swim determinedly upstream in search of its birthplace. Because of this, both
represent perseverance and courage, patience, determination and long life. In Japan,
the carp's armorlike scales link it to valor and courage, and it is a symbol of the Samurai.
To the Celts, the salmon is associated with the moon and is a symbol of wisdom, death and
rebirth. It's a bit of a running theme.
In the pair featured below, orange is a symbol of flame, but also luxury and splendor. In Asia it is
equated with love and happiness. Green, the color of life, spring and youth, also represents
hope and joy, and is associated with ecology and a preservation of natural resources.
