Cartoons! |
|
It's been said that the shortest distance between two friends is laughter, and I
heartily agree! When you grow up with a cartoonist for a Mother, some bits of dementia
are bound to be inherited. And after spending so much time rendering sword-and-sorcery pics, every now and
then I just need to do something completely insane to clear my head. So here is the place
where some of those bits of insanity come out to play. Just be sure to keep your hands and
feet inside the vehicle at all times, and please don't feed the animals.

I've always loved gryphons, and just wanted to see what one might
look like as a toon. The result: Gryphon, Bard of Prey, tickled pink over
his new harp as he sings for his supper. :)

One of my first attempts at digitally enhancing line art (and it shows) that I
keep as a reminder of how far I've come. But I also keep it because I just LOVE
that dragon. Like the Lady says, "This is MY dragon, tin man!"

This madness is what happens when an exhausted, starving college student
stays up too late devising a drawing for class "involving one-point perspective
and an oval incorporated somewhere into the picture". I made this more than a
decade ago, and still laugh every time I see it. Then again, I've always been pretty
easy to entertain.
"Mongol Pizza: guaranteed to sack your village in 30 minutes
or less, and you'd better tip the rider!"

As seen in the main gallery, this new studio mascot happened
because I just couldn't stand the thought of leaving a blank image on the
front door while I was rebuilding everything. As I did with
The Seeker, the paint-brush spear
is my stylistic incorporation of a sable brush with my Wacom pen, to
symbolize my mix of traditional and digital art. The armor and kite shield
symbolize that I'm a medieval recreationist fantasy artist, not to mention a smart-aleck
who really needs to stop drawing at 2 am. :)
